Good afternoon and happy Saturday! I guess I'm two for two with the last two posts being breakfast recipes! Today's recipe is one of my favorite breakfast meals - french toast. I must admit that this was so delicious that I had two days in a row and contemplated having it again for dinner.
Recipe
Bread (I used Sourdough from the bakery at Food Lion)
2 Large Eggs
1 Pinch of salt
1 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
1 sprinkle of cinnamon
1 sprinkle of nutmeg
1 c of milk
1/2 stick of butter (to grease the pan)
Cooking Instructions
Preheat skillet or griddle with 1 tsp of butter on medium to low heat (I found that I had to constantly add butter to prevent my bread from sticking to the pan).
Beat eggs, milk, salt, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg in large bowl.
Place bread in bowl and coat both sides. Be careful not to soak it. You just want the bread to be coated evenly in the mixture.
Place on skillet or griddle and cook until browned on both sides.
Repeat steps for the rest of your bread.
I served mine with butter and home-style maple syrup and of course eggs and bacon to make it extra filling!
Happy Eating!
Danielle
